Krul Tepes (クルル・ツェペシ Kururu Tsepeshi?) is the a third progenitor among the vampires and a character in Seraph of the End. In the Vampire Reign manga, she is a secondary major character where she reigned as the queen of Japan. Krul is responsible for turning Mikaela Hyakuya into a vampire. Krul is also featured in the prequel story detailed in the Seraph of the End: Guren Ichinose: Catastrophe at Sixteen light novels, where she also transformed Mahiru Hīragi into a vampire as part of a goal to locate her older brother, Ashera Tepes.

As one of the highest ranking members of the Progenitor Council, Krul made promises that she destroyed the human organizations involved with experimentation. Sparing the lives of the orphans involved instead, Krul brought them and other surviving humans underground to Sanguinem after the world ended. While she would have little patience for small talk, a failure to fully appreciate threats beneath her would result in her being ensnared in Ferid Bathory's plots. Krul would uphold her end of a bargain struck by working with Guren Ichinose and while acting to destroy the expanding Japanese Imperial Demon Army she was willing to betray her own kind.

Having lived in the ancient past as a human, she would be aware of the first progenitor, Sika Madu. Her options to make alliances were limited, with little help from higher ranked vampires such as Saitō, yet she would details her plans with Urd Geales and a rival third progenitor, Lest Karr. Dedicated to reclaiming her brother, Krul would deploy Mika on campaigns against the humans and direct him to locate Yu.

Appearance

Krul has something to say

Krul is a young girl, she is noted to have a appetite figure, she is considered to be extremely pretty, even by vampire standards. She has calf-length rosy pink hair, partially done up into two pigtails held by black hairpieces of which the design appears inspired by bat wings. The black headdress is connected by a black headband, and she also has what appear to be short black horns at either temple. Krul has large, sharp, slightly slanted eyes that are red, as with all vampires, along with fangs and pointed ears.

She is occasionally seen with a one-eyed bat familiar, by the name of Arukanu, upon her shoulder. The bat is about the size of her fist and has a large eye in the center of its face. It has a pair of small horns on top of its head and has a thin devil-like tail about twice the length of its body. It has small bat wings and minuscule feet.

Before she turned into a vampire, Krul's eyes were blue like her brother's. She wore her long pink hair with one of her bangs tied into a long single braid. This was frequently decorated it with flowers. Krul's attire consisted of an ancient Greek styled chiton, with a simple ribbon tied to her waist, and sandals tied with long ribbons to her feet.

Her attire as a vampire consists of a short black, frilly style dress with a layer of white ruffles over black ruffles of the skirt. The top has a raindrop shape opening on her chest, and the straps of the top cross before reaching her neck on either side. The top has an open back with two x-shaped crossing stitches tightening it at her waist. A strip of pink heads down either side at the front of her top and ends at bows above the ruffles. Five golden buttons are distributed evenly going down the top on either side between the pink strips. She has a white collar of lace parted in the center of her neck that reaches over her collar bones. It is bound by a pink ribbon with a large bow on the right side of her neck. It has a golden oval decoration in the center and a pair of ribbons trailing from it that reach her hips. She wears tall black boots that are initially folded below her knees, but they become unfolded after she attacks Ferid.[3] After unfolding, they reach mid-thigh and have a slit down to either knee. They have tall golden stilettos.

The loose black sleeves are worn detached, that are puffed up under her shoulders. These run past her hands, becoming wider toward the end. It has two gold buttons at the cuff. A black ribbon is tied into a bow at the top outermost sides of these sleeves, and its tails reach the length of the sleeves. White lace frills decorate the tops of the sleeves, and longer white frills hang out under the sleeves. The white also peeks out in a slit at the puffy part of the sleeves under either ribbon. Under these sleeves, Krul wears a pair of black gloves that are tighter against her skin, and reach her knuckles. Each one has a pair of pink stripes running down from her knuckles to the end of the glove. They can only be seen when the loose sleeves over them are slid back.

On certain occasions, she may wear a black cloak underneath her skirt. It runs from her waist down to her ankles and is split down the center. The inner lining is pink. When leading vampires to gather surviving humans, Krul also wears a military-esque black jacket that trails to her mid-calf. It has shoulder decorations and overly-large cuffs ending in white frills. Each cuff has a line of trimming at either end and has three buttons attached to it. Later, Krul's outfit receives a few changes. She does not don her bat-like hair decorations and wears ribbons instead, and the bow on her white collar is absent.

After she got barfed on by Shinoa and Mitsuba, she wore her hair down in two long low pigtails worn over the front of her shoulders, and held with hair ribbons. Krul wears casual clothing including a white hoodie with black sleeves. Appearing slightly too big for her, the sleeves cover her hands and there are pockets in the waist area as well. The motif in the center of the hoodie is a picture of a shark with the words "!Danger! Do Not Touch" on it. She also wears tight black leggings that cover her legs entirely, with black boots.

Personality

Krul hard of hearing.

Krul strikes down Ferid Bathory after he threatens her

As with other vampires, Krul views the humans as nothing more than livestocks. She does act to gather them to ensure vampires will still have a supply of blood after the world ends. Where their traits are concerned, Krul sees them as foul and endlessly greedy creatures who will do anything for their own personal gain. Krul is proud, especially as a third progenitor that gives her the power to back up her reason to be so, further is the queen of Japan.

When Third Progenitor Lest Karr challenges her position as the ruler of Japan, Krul becomes angry with his accusations and affirms she never fails, ever. She is temperamental when challenged and does not hesitate to remind her challenger of their place. When Ferid Bathory slaughters the Hyakuya Sect orphans she carefully hid in Sanguinem and kept as livestock, she becomes enraged because he fatally wounded one of the seraph and allowed another to escape. Krul hates the First Progenitor for turning her brother into a demon, a feeling that has not diminished with time.

An effective leader, Krul will lead and deliver announcements on her goals for the humans. Through her own channels, Krul has communications sent out to summon who she desires, where contact was made with other vampire nobles to update them of the human threat and instruct them they were to act. Leading through example, Krul once again shows her appearance to induce others to comply. Not having lesser vampires deal with threats such as Guren when possessed, Krul overcomes them herself. Firm when speaking, Krul orders her troops to not come when she wishes to hold private talks, then directs them to head to head to the next location.

Mika is a handful

Showing her care to Mika

In assisting others, Krul saves Mika's life against his will by turning him into a vampire, but this appears to have been done for her own personal interests. When Mika refuses to drink from a human, Krul's response is to provide her blood to him in exchange for making him dependent on her. There is affection behind this, and Krul shows Mika kindness where there are several moments when she hugs him or treats him gently. After developing a close bond with Mika, Krul expresses concern for his family member, Yu. She claims to like both Mika and Yu, however it is uncertain if this is due to her close relation with Mika and concern for his sake, or if this is because she wants to use the seraph for her own purposes.

Also appearing to invest a great deal of trust in Mika, it may be the case that he is one of the few beings to know Krul's true goals. Willing to confide sensitive information that only he heard, Krul would have Mika act as her agent in a mission to reclaim Yu from humans and vampires. Her objective is to locate her brother, Ashera Tepes, who wilfully became a demon under the first progenitor's command. In doing anything in order to find him, Krul even turns Mahiru Hīragi into a vampire when she claims to have information on him. For the few Krul does work with, she will provide considerable resources to assist her allies. This includes training Mika in combat, and bestowing what would be a prodigious gift to him and Mahiru in providing her blood for a vampire transformation. Evidently she allowed Guren to be transported to the airport.

When keeping some secrets safe, Krul often hides them within plan sight. She enabled the children with seraphs within them to live as livestock as any other child would, and neither paid them any mind to not draw attention with her interest shown. Similar with Mika, while she kept him close to the point where he was seen as favored, Krul still largely left him to his own devices. Behaving as normal while keeping many secrets, including what she knows of the "seraph of the end," Krul is willing to be deceitful toward the Progenitor Council to keep her criminal activities to them unknown. At first she was also withholding details from Mika, before being willing to share it. Krul done the same with divulging information to other vampire progenitors on what her plans for the First were. This is done both to satisfy curiosity and put other's minds at rest, then to simply proceed with a plan she has in mind.

In maintaining a business as usual approach where she is patient and happy to coast along, Krul is left vulnerable to developing problems she does not appear to recognize. During her reign, the Japanese Imperial Demon Army's capabilities grew exponentially with cursed gear developed. While acting swiftly to deal with Ferid's threat of revealing her activities to the progenitor council, Krul may have assumed the beating she administered had settled the matter, which did not prevent Ferid entrapping her further and entwining Krul's course of action with his. Powerless against blackmail, Krul had her to keep her temper in check, and had no way around the inability to kill him where he stands. Similarly, while her response to the threat of the army was prompt in resolutely deciding to destroy them, with her attention elsewhere the humans would still gain a major foothold in Japan. Ultimately, Krul's focus on her plans would distract her enough to fall in an ambush to Ferid. The undefeated and emboldened humans would then sack her city.

Around one thousand years ago when she was human, Krul was happy and cheerful. She was thankful for being born into a noble family. Also caring deeply for her brother Ashera Tepes, after his disappearance with Sika Madu she was distraught. Content to be found by him, Krul was fine in her new vampire state so long as Ashera was around and also displayed a calm side. Krul will do anything to find him to the point to turn Mahiru into a vampire and acquiring information at any cost.

No, it's not your fault! What's done is done. It's nobody's fault.

–Assurances that Ashera should not feel guilty that they are supposedly cursed now. Chapter 117: "Of Monsters and Demons" page 3

Believing him to have been found again, Krul pressed Ashera to possess the human he was with and cannot understand his hesitation, more so given a danger to them both being around. Since her meeting with Yu and joining his group, she repeatedly asks for her brother to be called by his real name. With the failure to comply, Krul is annoyed to no end. She also finds the group to be utter idiots after the girls accidentally vomited on her as she tried to restrain them. Greatly incensed when they displayed no remorse over their acts towards their vampire queen, Krul thinks none of them would have turned out remotely this stupid had she raised them. She radiates with indignation at their conduct.

Propitiation is effective in appeasing Krul. With her power recognized where she is paid attention to, Krul comfortably fits into her role of a respected ruler. Taking note of her unsatisfactory surroundings, Krul smashes her way through a wall to enter another room. Questioning manners, Krul demanded a demonstration of how sincere Yu was in his conviction of saving Mika. She raised this for Mika's sake, as it would not be fair to what he went though otherwise. Guessing she could help, if listened to, Krul ordered silence and poses questions to ascertain how much others know.

History

Krul as a human

Krul in her human life

Krul was born into a family of nobility, where she spent her childhood years in joy and pure bliss alongside her mother and brother, Ashera. She believed that one must be thankful for all that they have in the world such as food. One day Krul runs to Ashera to request he join her and their mother for lunch, as she did not want to eat alone. Where Ashera instead was fascinated by the sun, she listened to him discuss it. Stating that their mother told her looking at the sun would burn their eyes, after a little more bickering, Krul heads back home with him for lunch.

Returning home, Krul finds their house on fire and raided by the angry townspeople. Warned by her mother to run, Krul witnesses her speared in the stomach before she can finish her sentence. After the rebels scream that they will kill the children of the nobility, Krul and Ashera are captured then separated, where their fate is to be sold into slavery.[4]

Krul 1000 years ago

Krul begging Ashera not to leave her.

During the Dark Ages in Greece, Krul is wondered about by Ashera on whether she is dead by now as he lies in a prison.[5] She is then envisioned by him when Ashera sees a girl resembling her as he follows Sika Madu.[6] Krul along with her mother is then remembered walking through a field with Ashera,[7] and that for the large part she was happy.[8] She is a part of Ashera's thoughts as he is taken into the sky, thinking that he and Krul really did die that day so long ago.[9]

It transpires that like her brother, Krul was sold into slavery. News of who Krul was sold to was known to a slave trader, and her location was passed to Ashera. A lady of an estate was buying children for their blood, and Krul was brought to her residence that was guarded by armed men.[10] Other girls were bound, and so was Krul to the ceiling. Having had thin swords of various lengths stabbed through her, Krul is barely able to make a sound.[11]

The chain binding Krul's wrists to the ceiling was cut and Krul fell into Ashera's arms. Carried outside, Krul faintly spoke for big brother. Aware that he came, Krul then said how she could not see him where the blood from her eyelids indicated this was literal. Speaking whether this was just a dream, Krul mentions she dreamt this a lot. When things were really bad, she would see her brother coming to rescue her.[12]

Or... Is this... ...Just a dream? I dreamt this a lot... When things were really bad. I'd see my brother... Coming to rescue me.

–Found by Ashera after having been enslaved by a woman taking her blood. Chapter 116: "Brother and Sister", page 29

Even it it were a dream, Krul felt that is okay. At least once before she dies, Krul said she got to see him. Passing away, Krul remained lying on the ground.[13] Her ultimate fate was in the hands of Sika Madu who arrived, and Ashera as there was a way Krul could be awoken. Due to Ashera wanting his sister back, Krul had Sika Madu's blood dripped over her. After Krul's body violently convulses, the injuries on her arm healed.[14]

Her eyes having been restored, Krul blinks before her pupils becomes slitted. Able to communicate, Krul reacts by clutching her chest and screaming to reveal her pointed vampire fangs.[15]

By night time, Krul rests in Ashera's lap within a meadow. Content, Krul then asks what Ashera is sorry for. After Ashera says he feels it is his fault that this happened, Krul pays no mind to the bodies lying around them as she states it is not his fault. What is done is done, and Krul reiterates it is nobody's fault. In response to Ashera stating he put a curse on her, Krul speaks for him to stop blaming himself. If Krul gets to be with him then she is happy. Giving some thought to that they will will not grow or age, and whether this would last centuries, Krul answers it will be fine. No matter how long it is, Krul feels as long as she has Ashera then she will be okay.[16]

Chapter 85 - Page 13 - Panel 2

Krul gently asks Yu to keep the Michaela corpse a secret.

Other known details of Krul's past is that she and her brother were turned into vampires by the First Progenitor. At some unknown point during the Dark Ages in Greece, she along with her brother Ashera and Noya are in Sika Madu's forbidden room, where they all behold the corpse of a "Michaela". Noya says that this is what all of them where meant to become but failed.[17] Seeing a young Yu join them, Krul is annoyed at Noya entertaining the idea that there is a fun toy. She then approaches Yu gently and encourages him to keep what he saw a secret, yet is discouraged hearing Yu query what a secret is. Krul asks Noya what they should do now that Yu has seen them in here, and then how their secret is still safe. Watching with uncertainty as Noya helps Yu see Michaela, Krul shouts in vain for him to stop as he decapitates Yu. Hearing that Noya just saved them, she joins him and Ashera in figuring out what they are to do about Mikaela.[18]

Many years later, Krul would futility beg Sika Madu to not take Ashera away.[19]

No!! Please!! Don't take my brother away from me!!

–Pleading with the First progenitor in a flashback of 1,000 years prior. "Progenitor's Memory"

Story

Events of 2012

In the bowels of Sanguinem, Krul visits a chained up Mahiru where she asks if she really understands the current situation. Vampires have her chained to a pillar resembling a cross and have been forcing her to drink water whenever she appears like she is going to die. Time passes by, and Krul appears before Mahiru more than once. Eventually, Mahiru summons Shikama Dōji, which is the demon extracted from Shinoa's body, and she uses the scythe to cut her restraints. Mahiru says she could leave any time she wanted but preferred to show her sincerity. Asked what day it is, Krul informs her it is December 2. When Mahiru begins smiling genuinely, Krul asks her why. After Mahiru says she is thinking of the man she loves, Krul looks at her as if she is ill.

Do you know where my family member… where Ashera Tepes is?

–A question to Mahiru concerning her missing brother. Chapter 5

Krul then asks her if she knows where her brother, Ashera Tepes, is. In response, Mahiru sings a tune about the oncoming Apocalypse, where humans will make a lethal mistake and destroy the world once more. She says idiotic humans want to blow the trumpet of the Apocalypse on Christmas day; then afterward, humans will cry out desperately for their lives. Krul labels her an idiotic human. During this time, Krul listened to Mahiru before answering that she did not care about her life story and wanted to know where Ashera was. At hearing that he is being used by Sika Madu she seizes Mahiru and having enough of what she calls her drivel, Krul orders her to say where Ashera is. With Mahiru wanting to keep their pact a secret from Shikama Doji she observes as Mahiru injects herself with a needle and remains indifferent as she falls. As Mahiru says that her internal organs are rupturing, Krul demands to know what she thinks she is doing. Repeating the question, she wants to know what Mahiru is after.[20]

Informed by Mahiru about the Apocalypse which is to come, Krul is given information on the Seraph of the End.[21] Later, Krul has turned Mahiru into a vampire, and she sets her loose on the world. On December 12, she orders Lucal Wesker and other vampires to destroy the compounds of the Thousand Nights. With the intelligence at hand, Krul steps into action with her army at her back the moment the humans release the virus and have it sweep through Japan. She also collects children from one of the Hyakuya Sect's orphanages, where two of them are seraphs. Having them sent to Sanguinem, Krul keeps the gathered children in the same city she resides in and rules from.

Prologue

Krul's first appearance

Krul Tepes invades Tokyo in 2012.

Krul Tepes first appears when the apocalypse virus afflicts the adults of Tokyo, and she invades Tokyo with her army the moment that happens in 2012. She was ordered by the Progenitor Council to exterminate the Hyakuya Sect and all of their orphans with the seraph gene. Krul instead keeps the orphans from the Hyakuya Orphanage in Tokyo alive. Having them transported to Kyoto and into the underground vampire third capital, Sanguinem, Krul then lies that she completed the task. Leaving the children to be raised as livestock, as well as a supply of blood, the assets includes a pair of seraph children named Yūichirō Hyakuya and Mikaela Hyakuya.

Events of 2016

At the point Krul became aware of it, she could not act when Ferid Bathory began murdering the children who were attempting to escape the city in 2016.

Krul owns Mika

Claiming Mika as he is dying

Krul arrives at the scene of carnage in time to prevent the other vampires from finishing off Mika, by telling them that he belongs to her.[22] She dips a finger into the pool of blood surrounding him and licks it. Demanding an explanation from Ferid who lies apparently unconscious nearby, Krul states no one would believe a human child could seriously injure a seventh progenitor. She accuses him of deliberately letting her seraphs escape after Yu had made it out.

Krul vs Ferid 1

Attacking Ferid

After Ferid threatens to take this issue to the Progenitor Council, since meddling with the curse of the seraphs is against vampire law, flames rise up from her body. Krul responds by thrashing him, ripping off his right arm, and stomping her boot onto his chest and neck. Checking what he said and recieving an apology, Krul shows him mercy then sends him away.

Vampire Kiss

Turning Mika into a vampire

Aware that Mika is dying, Krul offers eternal life to him. With this refused, Krul smirks and biting her lip to make it bleed, she kisses him, forcing him to ingest her blood.

Ha ha. I see. You don't wish to live? However, you have no choice. You will drink my blood... and cease being human.

–While Krul saved Mika life it was also what turned him into a vampire. "Vampire Mikaela"

Later, Krul sits in a throne room with Mika before her. After an unconscious child is brought in and placed on the floor between them, Krul tells him to drink the blood of that human and become a true vampire. With Mika refusing, where he would rather die than become a vampire, Krul sympathizes with him, yet warns he will become a senseless, raving demon without the blood. As he rebuffs it again, Krul slices her own wrist open then offers her own blood to Mika.

Mika serves Krul

Sustaining Mika with her blood

Stating he may drink her blood instead, Krul points out that it is not from a human. With this working where her blood is consumed by Mika, she contently speaks he will never be able to leave her. Fondly saying he will be her dog for all time, when Mika finishes, she hugs him.

Aha ha. So you say. But can you resist. Your entire body must ache right now. You must thirst so badly you can barely stand it. Don't deny it. Let your desire take control.

–Enticing Mika to drink blood, before providing her own. "Queen's Contract"

While Mika is under Krul's care, she informs him of the humans' cruelty through their experimentation that could destroy the world. Teaching him that she saved the orphans from that fate, Krul does not mention that she was actually ordered to kill them. Krul's influence along with Ferid's factor in Mika believing that the humans are once again experimenting on Yu and using him. While it was not apparently public knowledge, other vampires did suspect Krul was Mika's sire, and that he was regarded as her pet, indicating their closeness.

Events of 2020

Second Shibuya High Arc

Krul Ready

Declaring war against the humans

In 2020, she and Mika maintain a close relationship. Within a spacious chamber of Sanguinem, Krul is seated on her throne in a gathering of those with the progenitor's blood. when Mika arrives to hear the war declaration, Krul smiles upon seeing him. Jumping up to take over the announcement from her speaker and present the rest of the speech herself, Krul formally declares war against the Japanese Imperial Demon Army in order to save their world. She continues that the cruel and greedy humans actively commit the crimes of killing vampires, stealing vampire territory, and are delving into forbidden magics.

And so, we have resolved to destroy the Japanese Imperial Demon Army. This is war! Waged for the sake of the world's stability. To protect our world, we must kill them! We will wipe out all the greedy humans!

–Her proclamation to many vampires. "Vampire Mikaela"

Shinjuku Arc

With Krul's operation underway, Ferid has been sent to command the attack on Shinjuku. Since Mika having gone as well, Krul has given him ten days' worth of her blood so that he can look for Yu. During the battle, human experimentation transforms Yu into an insensible monster, and he injures Mika badly enough that he cannot heal from his wound on his own and requires curse detoxification. After he receives treatment and gets dressed, Krul summons him to the Royal Audience Chamber to hear details of what transpired.

Post-Shinjuku Arc

The Progenitor Council

The progenitor council meeting

In attendance at a meeting of the Progenitor Council, Krul sees Ferid bring Mika into them room in his report on the battle of Shinjuku that was lost.[23] Witnessing video footage of Yu's transformation, where the progenitors quickly recognize it as one of the "seraph of the end", Krul listens as Ferid confirms their fears. A fourth progenitor points out that Krul foiled that plan by exterminating Japan's Hyakuya Sect eight years ago, killing them and all of their seraph guinea pigs. Krul listens apprehensively as Ferid wonders if this is in fact true.

Eight years ago, I eliminated the entire Hyakuya Sect. Every last one of the guinea pigs in the Hyakuya Orphanage who bore the 'seraph' gene, I killed with my own hands.

–Speaking in a Progenitor Council meeting. "Taboo Krul"

Spoken to by another Third Progenitor, Lest Karr who raises with her the heavy burden of responsibility for her failure and the mismanagement of Japan, Krul responds she never fails, ever. Ordering Lest Karr to be quiet, Krul questions if he is picking a fight with her. After Lest Karr claims he would be happy to rule Japan in her place, Krul calls him a child. Before she can react to his assertion that he stronger than her, there is a timely intervention to their affray. Addressing the progenitor council as a whole, Krul's plan is to kill all the humans of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army, an objective satisfactory to the members. At the end of the meeting, one of the progenitors queries who the child behind Ferid is, which makes Krul uncomfortable.

After the meeting, Krul is enraged and furiously asks Ferid if he is trying to dethrone her. Demanding to know why he brought Mika into the meeting, she swings her arm at him, leaving a deep fissure in the floor nearby. Threatening to kill him, Krul sees Ferid hide behind Mika before hearing that she can no longer kill him. It dawns on Krul that she has not been able to for awhile now since certain information about her meddling in the seraph of the end may be sent to the Progenitor Council on Ferid's death. Glaring at him, Krul listens to Ferid call her adorable where it makes his heart flutter. Since he would be in even more trouble than her for letting Yu escape, and they share the same secret, Krul hears the suggestion that she and Ferid are partners in crime. Told to take his hand and submit to him, before this invitation is played off as a joke, Krul watches Ferid leave with the hopes that they will be the best of friends next time they meet.

Krul's dining service

Preparing blood for Mika

Later on, Krul is in the process of filling a test tube with her blood for Mika. With him somewhat blood crazed through the lack of it, Krul is lifted off her feet, where her neck is bitten into as she is drank from directly. The tube Krul was holding falls and shatters on the ground, spilling her blood. As Mika continues to drink, Krul hugs him and warmly calls him a handful while indulging him. Once Mika returns to his senses, Krul is pushed away. With him embarrassed, then sheepishly asks for a slightly bigger stock of her blood, Krul teases him for already breaking a vial. Requesting a report on Shinjuku, she is asked for an explanation of the council meeting first.

Secret keeper

Secrets for Mika

Questioned why she let the orphans live at such risk to herself, at first, Krul tells Mika he does not need to know. When he gets upset, they argue. Krul entwines her fingers with his and squeezes Mika's hand with her claws, forcing him to the ground as he struggles against her strength. Reminding him that he is dependent on her blood, she wonders how he could possibly defy her. A question Krul has is if Mika would rather die, then will he abandon Yu to those foul humans? Hearing Mika say he cannot follow her anymore, Krul insists she is not that terrible then shares that she likes both him and Yu.

Goodness, how selfish. Didn't I already tell you that you can't defy me? And besides, I am not that terrible. I like both you and your friend Yu. Believe it. If it weren't for me, both of you would have died years ago in that orphanage. I am your savior, your surrogate parent, your owner. If you really want to know, then I will tell you why I spared your lives. And why I need the 'seraph of the end'."

–To Mika after saying he can no longer follow her. "Taboo Krul"

Asking him to trust her, Krul states they would have died in that orphanage years ago if she did not intervene. She is his savior, surrogate parent, and owner. Since Mika wants to know why she spared their lives so much, Krul concedes and appeases him by whispering her plan in his ear. When he asks if she is serious, Krul answers that is a good question but now she has an army to deploy. Giving Mika a secret mission, it is to get lost during the war, hide from both vampires and humans, and find Yu.

A very good question. Well then, now that I have finished appeasing my self-centered little son, I suppose I shall be about my orders from the council. It is time we deployed our true army to massacre all the humans in Japan. Let the Vampire-Human War begin. You, Mika, will conveniently get 'lost' in all that fuss. Hide from both humans and vampires, and use that opportunity to find Yu... and go find your family member. Understood?

–Enacting furtive plans involving Mika. "Taboo Krul"

Nagoya Arc

Deploying Mika to Nagoya along with other vampires such as Lacus Welt, an additional aspect of the campaign it to collect surviving humans on the surface of Kansai as a gift to vampire nobles. Also sending a missive to the vampires in Nagoya, the order is for them to take part in destroying the Japanese Imperial Demon Army in Tokyo. Krul also plans to visit Nagoya in person to ensure this is carried out.

Travelling with an entourage which includes Ferid via aircraft, Krul is addressed as "Krullie dear" as she is informed that Crowley Eusford's domain they are nearing is already under attack by the humans. In response Krul has but a hard glare for him. Having landed, Krul gazes impassively at Guren Ichinose who is bound and kneeling before her. She watches as an unnamed noble mocks him, to which he responds by spitting at him. The enraged vampire viciously strikes him, which sends him flying, though Krul looks decidedly unimpressed.

Her expression becomes perplexed as a malevolent aura erupts from Guren, along with his blade unsheathing itself, that results in the noble before him being decapitated. She watches as Guren rises to his feet, his bindings broken as the apparition of Mahiru-no-Yo appears above him. Krul mocks his triumphant expression, which causes Guren's sword to be drawn on her. After Guren announces he is going to conduct an experiment on the Seraph of the End at Nagoya Airport and that is going to assist him, Krul recognizes him as a messenger from Mahiru Hīragi.

This was not part of the deal. Before the catastrophe eight years ago, I made a bargain with Mahiru Hīragi. If you are not her, I cannot help you—

–Revealing details of her plan with Guren who she pretends to interrogate. "The Beginning of the Plan"

Swatting Guren away from her to knock him away some distance, Krul questions if he is sent by Mahiru Hīragi. Learning that Mahiru is dead, Krul asks who Guren is. Laughed at, Krul says this was not part of the deal, revealing she made a bargain with Mahiru before the world collapsed. She tells Guren she cannot help him if he is not Mahiru. Goaded to kill him, Krul then hears she cannot. Apparent she has betrayed the vampires too deeply to turn back, and now must make certain that the Seraph of the End experiment succeeds today, Krul is annoyed so kicks Guren. Told to keep up the act, Krul then shouts that the human spoke and informs the other vampires that the murderous humans are regrouping at Nagoya Airport. Krul orders the vampires to set out immediately.

Arriving at the airport, now a battlefield, Krul and her soldiers are confronted by the sight of Yu losing control of his Seraph. She orders for Mika to retrieve Yu and for them to escape together. Confronted by Crowley, who tries to attack her from behind, Krul is able to fend him off with ease. While this was quickly settled, it was a distraction. Krul finds Ferid behind, and her shoulder is bitten into. An attempt to make a deal with Ferid is to no avail. Krul mouths directives to Mika, before falling unconscious as her blood is drained by Ferid. Her limp body is presented to the vampires who serve her, and Krul is declared a traitor for her betrayal by being involved with the Seraph of the End project. Control taken from her, Krul is effectively dethroned and removed from power as Queen of Japan.

Post-Nagoya Arc

Tied to her throne, unconscious and beaten, Krul's state is seen over video in an emergency summoning of the progenitor council. That she was in league with the humans and the Seraph of the End experiment is announced by Ferid, who continues that the experiment actually succeeded. Her capture is used by Ferid to praise himself and Crowley for risking their lives to apprehend the traitorous Krul.

Osaka Arc

Saito 19

Krul meets Saitō again after a 1000 years

Waking up in Ferid's mansion in Osaka Bay, Krul is immured within a wall with just her head and upper torso, without her arms, free. Thirsting for blood, she mumbles Ferid's name then shouts for him. Krul yells for him to kill her if that was what he intended. The thirst hurts her, and she resentfully sticks her tongue out to try and catch some of the blood dripping down in front of her.[24]

With Saitō present and commenting on how pathetic she has become, Krul does not recognize him at first. Hearing she should know him quite well, Krul recognizes him as "the one who always tagged along behind the first progenitor."[25] It is recalled that in the past, Krul watched her older brother Ashera Tepes cling to the First Progenitor.

Commenting that Saitō has changed a lot, Krul wonders if he ordered Ferid to capture her. This is denied, and Krul listens to Saito mentioning the difference in power between her and Ferid. Angry, Krul demands to know if Saito did this and then what he is plotting. Learning that Saitō discarded Ferid a long time ago because he was unable to live up to his expectations, Krul hears it is no different than what the first progenitor did to them since he was only interested in Ashera Tepes, and ignored and discarded the rest of the vampires.[26] In a recollection, Krul was crying out and begging the first progenitor not to take her brother away to be turned into a demon. While Krul pleaded, Ashera says he must go for their future.[27]

Are you after the first progenitor as well? He was the one who turned us into blood-sucking, undying monsters. We all despise him to some degree.

–Attempting peaceable talk with the other second progenitor, Saito. "Progenitor's Memory"

Enquiring if Saitō is also after the first progenitor, Krul remarks that all vampires despise him to some degree. Questioned by Saitō if Ferid has said anything about him, Krul calls him Saitō's lackey. Krul is updated that a fleet of ships from Russia have arrived with Urd Geales and a few nobility.[28]

Krul is thrown

Krul is thrown at Urd by Saito

Remaining imprisoned and unable to act as Urd arrives and fights Saitō, when the latter moves to escape, Krul is seized by Saito's chains and thrown into Urd.[29] She is held and dragged by the neck as Krul is taken by Urd to return to their army, as Ferid experiences the same by Lest Karr who is also present.[30] As punishment for letting Sanguinem fall under human control, Krul along with Ferid is sentenced by Urd to ten days of exposure torture in the sunlight. Krul's UV-protective armband is cut off by Fifth Progenitor Ky Luc after being tied to a crucifix. As with Ferid, the sun causes Krul to burst into flames, screaming.

Continuing to burn alongside Ferid, and guarded by Ky Luc, days later, Krul would find the Shinoa and Guren Squad attack Ky Luc in order to rescue her and Ferid. When Ky Luc threw the dismembered parts of Ferid into ranged attacks that were to free Krul, her rescue attempt ended in failure. She was taken when Ky Luc decided to retreat where he escaped with Krul still tied and burning on her cross. Krul is still burning while being transported by Ky Luc back to Kyoto in a car. At the time, Krul has sensed her brother, Ashera, within Yu's sword. Krul concludes this meant that Mahiru had kept up her end of the deal.[31]

As the Horsemen of the Apocalypse disappeared from the world, Krul is seen back in Sanguinem with Urd, along with Lest Karr, and Ky Luc. A prisoner, inside a jail cell like room, Krul is chained by the wrists. She is not wearing her regular clothes, and in conversation Krul denies Urd's claim that she is a traitor for breaking their oldest taboo: researching into the taboo that is the seraph of the end. Krul alerts the other progenitors that their rule never stopped the humans, which has led to the world being what it is now, since they were the ones to research and develop it, and not them. Rhetorically asking, and mocking Urd on them continuing to uphold the laws of the First Progenitor, that had abandoned them, for her points, Krul is struck in the face by Lest Karr.[32] Finding support from Ky Luc in getting Urd and Lest to listen to her about what she knows, Krul affirms she will tell them everything on what the First Progenitor did to them if they are willing to break the rules.

And what has that gotten us? What happened to the world? We refrained from that research, but the humans didn't. Now that they successfully control one, what point does that taboo even hold? Are you going to continue to insist we follow ancient, outdated laws? Laws that were set down by whom, hmm? First Progenitor Sika Madu? Hah! Following the rules of the one who abandoned us—

–Making a case to Urd about the Searph of the End, and how vampires should adapt. "Saviors"

Shibuya Arc

Seeing Sanguiem again

Krul has been freed where she is wearing her usual clothes. When Ky Luc knocks on the door and enters, Krul is congratulated on being back and is reminded who helped her back then in her troubles. Wondering if she should thank him, Krul then asserts it should be the opposite for the fact she is not killing him. Handed two UV-blocking rings, with it midday outside, Krul slips them on. As Krul walks out and looks up at the walls of Sanguinem, she notes that there is no sun or light since it is an underground city. Krul recalls her childhood life with her brother.[4]

Onboard an aircraft, Krul is flown above Osaka with Lest Karr, Ky Luc and Urd. They sense the First Progenitor as they are heading to Tokyo. When Urd notices missiles to attack their aircraft, Krul is shocked by the barrage. Through the sheer number of them, the missiles proceed to blow the aircraft out the sky and Krul is seen to be missing.

Having fled from Urd's group after the aircraft attack, at nighttime Krul bounds and hurries quickly along a highway. She is determined to save her big brother Ashera from that monster.[33] Krul senses it has awakened already and determinedly tells herself she has to hurry.[34]

Ch89 Pg33

Krul states that she finally found her big brother after arriving at Yu and Mika's location.

Still on her way to Shibuya, she feels the situation is very bad, particularly concerned at certain individuals meeting first.[35] Hearing Ashera Tepes, Krul is remembered by Mika as glancing down upon him as a child where she revealed her name, and that as of then she was Mika's master.[36] Locating Mika as he is held by Yu, Krul approaches and states she has finally found her big brother.[37]

Post-Shibuya Arc

She guards against the force emitted from Mika as he turns into a black demon. Krul considers it bad that the demon transformation that her deal with Mahiru involves has already begun. Thinking that this will be a rank one, Krul calls to Ashera and grabs Yu. With him speaking, Krul questions whether Ashera can just take that body, she can feel the power from him. Asking if he can hear her, Krul states if they do not get out of here they will be in trouble. Shouting whether Ashera is even listening, Krul wonders if he has forgotten about her.

Why haven't you possessed that body yet?! If we don't get out of here, we'll be in trouble!

–Advising Ashera to possess Yu, and concerned with the power from Mika. "Hole in the Sun"

With two arms emerging from Mika's mouth Krul states if they do not run they will die. Answering Yu if he stays with Mika he will kill them, Krul points out he is a demon now and if Yu dies he will never have a chance to save him again. Focusing on escaping, Krul questions Yu what he has inside him. Correcting that Asuramaru is Ashera, she states he is a demon but Mika cannot turn out like that if Yu dies, so Krul orders him to do what she says.[38]

Taking a hold of Yu, she runs before being physically affected by a sound from Mika. Commenting on a voice again, Krul calls for Ashera to hurry up and possess Yu.[39] Picked up by Yu, she is taken away[40] but with him heading towards the vehicle driven by Shihō Kimizuki with Mitsuba Sangū, along with Yoichi Saotome and Shinoa Hīragi she says to Yu that a 'he' is that way. Krul is then informed this is okay and turns to face Asuramaru near her.[41]

In an apartment away from Demon Army territory, an unconscious Krul is carried by Yoichi and is placed on a bed.[42] After some time she awakens, and finds Yoichi hurling in a trash can near her. Similarly clueless about the situation outside the room, Krul searches for her brother and wonders what is this. She is then attacked by Shinoa and Mitsuba who had been drinking.[43] Demanding to know what on earth they think they are doing, Krul proclaims herself the queen of the vampires and threatens to kill both of them. Almost grabbed by them, Krul retorts that she has them and stops their actions by seizing them forcefully. Glancing at Shinoa, she is extremely tempted to kill her before Krul finds her hands and the top of her hair covered in vomit. Krul immediately wails in disgust and smashes her way out of the building.[44]

Returning having changed her clothes, Krul speaks to Yu and Kimizuki that it is not necessary for them to head outside. There are many forces out there after them and Krul questions what fool wanders around at a time like this. She refuses to answer Yu and Kimizuki's questions as to why she has different clothes or why her hair is wet. Krul is annoyed at how human children are such a pain and does not know why she tolerates them. With Yu saying that she looks way more like a kid, Krul asks him how old does he think she is. She informs him how vampire rank is decided by how thickly the first's blood runs in them, and for how long they have lived for. After Yu provides a guess that she is maybe three years old, Krul shouts that she would be infant then. On the other hand, Kimizuki is surprised that Yu is talking to a third progenitor vampire as she could kill them both easily. Krul heeds this and is impressed, voicing that there is finally someone with common sense and with a proper attitude. She seriously asks who is friends when Yu says they are that, and Krul remembers turning Mika into a vampire with him being the tie between them.[45]

With Yu mentioning Asuramaru, she corrects him that his true name is Ashera Tepes and he is her brother. Suspicious that Yu is deliberately mispronouncing it as "Ashura Tapas" she rejects Kimizuki's assessment that it is just Yu. Far from being just him, Krul states that everyone in the room looks to be an utter fool. With the place reeking of vomit she decides to go to a different room. A wall is in her way so Krul breaks through it. Checking back, she cannot believe Shinoa and Mitsuba and their reactions as they are carried by Yu. They both vomited over her with no remorse expressed at all. Krul indignantly radiates as she contemplates whether she really should rip the lot of them limb from limb.[46]

Seated on a couch, Krul reacts to Yu's enthusiasm to rescue Mika by stating she does not like his attitude. Querying whether that is how Yu asks others for such a large favor, Krul questions who taught him his manners, specifically which adult tried to raise him and failed so badly.[47] Krul thinks to herself if she raised them none of Shinoa's squad would have turned out remotely this stupid. Thinking back to how Mika didn't, during a training exercise Krul thought how no matter how much she hit him he would not make a peep. At the time Krul said if it hurts he should say so, scream if he must, not that it will earn him any sympathy. Questioning whether if that was so when Mika replied that he could keep going, Krul noted that again Mika goes silent before finishing what he was going to say. She contemplated that Mika was young where what he thinks is written on his face. Krul wondered if Mika wanted to save Yu that badly, whether his mind was so full of thoughts of him that it drives himself to this insanity. When Mika remained determined, Krul smiled warmly.[48]

Remembering the more recent incident of two arms coming out of Mika, Krul speaks to Yu that if he really wants to save Mika he should prove it and to stop fooling around, otherwise it would not be fair to what Mika went through. With Yu bowing before her[49] and after hearing his heartfelt plea for her aid, Krul sees that Yu has it just as badly. She spares a thought for her brother as she wonders whether this is why he chose to possess Yu. Krul then reconsiders his situation and guesses she might help if they will listen to her. Whilst Yu jumps in excitement, she silences him and orders Yu to not speak again. First things first that Krul needs to know is how much of this situation does the squad understand. Asking if they know why this is happening, with no response, Krul moves to query how many of them possess black demon weapons and to raise their hands. Every faction in this conflict will be after Yu, Kimizuki and Yoichi, so Krul challenges them to think who are their enemies, who they are rescuing, resisting, and to what purpose. In response to Yu desiring to protect their family, Krul stands and gives them a purpose. She will tell them who their enemies are and teach them what plan they are to put into action. The current plan began eight years ago, only slightly before the catastrophe that destroyed the world. It was brought to her by one human woman named Mahiru Hiragi, who Krul approached whilst she was tied to a cross.[50]

With Shinoa commenting on her sister's name, Krul raises whether she is related to Mahiru. She listens to comments the squad have of Mahiru.[51] Krul is asked to tell Shinoa what her sister did. She recalls Mahiru approaching her throne in an underground city. Krul wondered who she was before it was mentioned that Mahiru knew where Yu, Mikaela and Ashera Tepes were.[52] Krul remembers the event eight years ago where a pact was made with Mahiru.[53] Presently, Krul regards Shinoa and wonders which one she is now and whether this is still all part of the plan. Not entertaining any questions, Krul jumps and strikes at Shinoa. Her hand is blocked by a barrier from Shinoa, who now has six large seraph wings. Krul's response to the First in control of Shinoa's body is to command all to listen to her as she labels their true enemy as Shikama Doji. She further proclaims that he wants to use both Mahiru's sister and Mikaela in his experiments. Krul ends with shouting that as of today Shikama Doji is their enemy before having her mouth covered by the first.[54]

All of you, listen to me! Our true enemy is Shikama Doji! Mahiru's sister. And Mikaela. Shikama Doji wants to use both of them in his experiments! As of today, I say that he is your enemy!

–Her orders to Yu, Kimizuki, Mitsuba and Yoichi at seeing that the First is in control of Shinoa. Chapter 98 "The King's Chambers" page 36-37

After Guren with Mahiru crash into the room, Krul answers that they knocked her out hence why she went too far away.[55] Observing as Guren discusses his past actions regarding Kimizuki and Yoichi's relatives, when the latter announces an intent to kill Guren, she stands and calls them idiots. Questioning what any of it matters, Krul continues that if the first awakens everything is over. Krul offers to silence who she calls fools by force if necessary for Guren's sake. In turn Krul has a finger placed on her own lips and she asks Mahiru if she will silence them.[56] She listens as Shinoa explains that they are all Shikama Doji's guinea pigs[57] and hears an unexpected problem in resurrecting all of humanity[58] in that Asuramaru is an enemy. Krul is unnerved to learn from Shinoa that she heard Shikama Doji order Asuramaru to capture Mika's soul.[59]

Krul drags Shinoa outside by her clothing. Asked if their would be an easier ways to carry her, Krul orders her not to speak and instead focus on containing the first.[60] Hearing Shinoa is giving it her full effort, Krul asks how long she can hold the First with how much longer the drug will last. Krul says if the first wakes then everything will be lost. When Shinoa wonders if Asuramaru is her brother, and how here he is helping the First, asked what happened to Asuramaru and the First, including details of her past, Krul remains silent.[61] Standing near Shinoa who provides an update on her containing the First,[62] Krul then witnesses the completed spell circle activate by shining brightly.[63] Even with the declaration that they are going to save Mika, Krul judges Guren's announcement that they are all family to be stupid.[64] She does not appear too impressed hearing Shinoa say she would cry if anything happened to Yu.[65] Stood near Shinoa, after she reports that the First can no longer be held and will wake up, Krul damns the situation.[66]

While she sees it, Krul does not react too much to a chain that has emerged from Kimizuki's chest, neither does she comment on Guren and Mahiru acting to resume Saito's plan.[67] She remains near Shinoa as she moves to help Mahiru.[68] Appearing disinterested, Krul sees that Yu is back, shortly followed by Mika who is now a demon.[69]

Seen in a memory of when she first met Mika, it is noted that she got involved with him and Yu, the same as Guren and Ferid.[70] Physically, Krul is standing before Mika and speaks his name as he viewing the memory. After waving her hand in-front of his face, Krul taps him where the impact pushes him over.[71]

Stating that it is good to see him well, Krul continues that she thought she would do him the honor of checking how powerful he has become. Engaging in a physical fist fight, Krul looks down on Mika on the ground and remarks she trusts he understands that she is still more powerful than him. Mentioning that Mika did well to survive the First with only that much strength to call on, Krul commends him. Asked if that somehow counts as a compliment, Krul confirms this and adds that Mika is of her clan. Questioned if that means she loves him, Krul answers she cannot say she understands what love is.[72]

Hrm... You did well to survive the First with only that much strength to call on. I commend you.

–After pushing Mika over who had fought Shikama Doji, Krul praises him and states it was supposed to be a compliment as Mika is a part of her clan. Chapter 110 "Expose the Past to the Sun", page 32

Asked to tell Mika something, with no secrets, Krul wonders what it is. Questioned what she really wants, Krul replies it is getting her brother Ashera back. Stating that Mika knows him as Asuramaru, his location is discussed where it was thought Asuramaru is inside Yu.[73] Once Ferid has arrived with a truck, Krul is a part of the collective group that it to move to a location where no one can touch them on Guren's direction.[74]

I want my brother Ashera back. You know him as Asuramaru.

–Answering Mika what she really wants, with no secrets. Chapter 110 "Expose the Past to the Sun", page 33

Akihabara Arc

While Ferid is driving a truck through the city, Krul stays in the back with the others. Sat cross-armed, and cross-legged, Krul is positioned next to Guren with Mahiru nearby.[75] Her name is mentioned and Krul is visualized as standing on the edge of a road with a barbed wire fence close by when Mika is explaining to Yu how she, Guren, Mahiru, and Ferid have been in cahoots for years.[76]

Listening as Yu speaks to Guren how he is grateful to him,[77] after Yu with Mika have clashed against Guren and Mahiru for a suspected role in Ferid murdering Yu's family, Krul does not intervene at all but does observe as the fight resumes.[78] Seemingly having remained seated when the truck has stopped, Krul glances at Yu and Guren locked in battle.[79]

Witnessing Yu forgive Guren for the murder of his family, when Ferid remarks as they are following their plan so that makes them family too, Krul replies if he says that again she will kill him. Delivering on her words, when Ferid speaks, she has swiped off his head.[80]

When Kimizuki is angered Guren has not revealed the truth he was to mention, Krul observes.[81] With Yu affirming they did what they had to do to survive so it is fine, called by him to join in, Krul rejects his notion that they are family at once. Claiming she is not part of his sappy family, Krul also adds for him to show respect when he says her name.[82]

When Guren and the co. reach their destination at an Akihabara underground site, Mika calls out to Krul.[83] Asking her if she came along because she and Guren have a mutual interest. Krul answers yes. However as for Ferid involvement. Mika questions if they have some deal with Guren. Krul says she can't speak for that loon, though guesses if he is here he must.[84] Mika asks her a second question, if her interests align with theirs. Responding has is would Mika want to live forever so badly that he would be willing to sacrifice his family. After Mika answers her no, Krul pats him, saying then their goal is the same.[85]

Krul is depicted as being in the hands of who may be the First, along with Asuramaru, Lest Karr, Noya, and Mika as a child.[86] Within the underground site, Krul along with other vampires are called to by Guren to stop Yu escaping. It is mentioned that if Yu runs then their plan is totally screwed, and though Krul does not move she considers the words.[87] When Yu later tries to escape through the ceiling, Krul seizes his left leg. Telling him enough games, Krul addresses him as a child, before throwing Yu downwards into the ground to create a great impact.[88]

After Yu seeks more power and calls out Asuramaru, she shows a sign of reaction and speaks her brother's name, Ashera.[89] Facing Yu close by, Krul asks for big brother.[90] Within Asuramaru's realm, from a wispy like smoke, Krul materializes to be visible there. Although Krul is observed by Asuramaru, she says nothing to him.[91] Every now and then, memories of Krul's brother flash in her mind. Remembering them sat together in a field with bodies strewn around, Krul was happy to be with Ashera forever.[92]

Hearing Guren shout that Yu is trying to devour Asuramaru, she speaks Ashera's name. Leaping onto Yu to tackle him to the ground, Krul asks if Ashera can hear her. Turning to Guren, she questions whether he can suppress Yu's demons, before shouting for Ashera to hang in there for she will save him.[93] Mentioned when Yu is battling against Asuramaru, her name comes up as someone to save by both of them.[94]

Her voice reaches Asuramaru in his demon realm location, and Krul asks if he can hear her. Directing him to stop Yu, she adds for Ashera to hold him off until they can save him. Referred to as sister, Krul is in Ashera's mind for his reason to win against Yu and disrupt the First's plan.[95] Visualized when Asuramaru is speaking to Yu how Mika wants to die, and that eternal life would be a mistake, Krul is seen happy and holding a bouquet of flowers.[96]

Surprised, Krul remarks how the injection on Yu is still not working yet.[97] Where Yu has been restrained by his squad would implore him to return to his senses, Krul observes the scenario.[98] As Asuramaru is being bitten by Yu, she is visualized from the past happy amongst many flower petals.[99] It is unknown if Krul can sense that Ashera is gone due to being consumed by Yu.

On the surface, Krul is present in the squad discussion on how Yu has devoured two demons and will be seeking a large volume of food to maintain them before leaving Tokyo. While the squad have their doubts that Yu would attack Demon Army soldiers guarding the supplies, once Mitsuba says not even Yu would go that far, Krul interjects to affirm he would. Labelling him broken, Krul mentions how he devoured her brother.

Reacting to Shinoa interrupting to ask who cares, Krul is silent as she speaks how Yu will be brought back even if Mika has to be killed to do so, again something Krul has no commentary on.[100] Her activities are not shown when Shinoa directs others to Ikebukuro or to Naka-itabashi. She is not present when Guren squad launch a collective attack to destroy the supplies Yu and Mika are gathering from human settlers.

Mount Fuji Arc

Within a memory of ancient Greece that Yu and Mika have accessed, Krul is seen walking beside Sika Madu, where she is the only vampire among a group of demons including Gekkouin, with Byakomaru behind her, then Noya, also Asuramaru and Raimeiki in front. It is felt that this is a mixed memory between Yu and Mika, where Krul is wearing her present day clothing rather having anything worn in the ancient past.[101] This manifestation of Krul looks to her left as she continues to follow Sika Madu through the ancient Greek streets beside Asuramaru. If it is a memory, Krul would have likely been the only one visible with Sika Madu to the people around as the rest of the group are demons.[102]

She is visualized standing alone in what appears to be Sanguinem when Yu and Mika are discussing how the vampires seem to hate how they have lived for a really long time. Krul's name is mentioned by Mika as he comments how it looks like she has suffered a lot.[103]

Powers and Abilities

Ferid almost lost a limb

Natural abilities

Being a vampire, Krul has immortality, eternal youth, immense strength that surpasses humans, and rapid bodily regeneration. She can also gain strength by drinking human blood. Also, by being a third progenitor, Krul is stronger than those of a lower station. This is apparent when she easily defeats Ferid, who is a seventh progenitor. For all intents and purposes she is one of the strongest beings existing in the world. The swing of her arm can easily destroy a room where the force emitted can break into the solid ground.

Having very sharp and enhanced senses Krul could discern activities occurring in Shibuya while she was on her way there. She was able to sense the location of her brother, a demon, which are largely invisible to the eye.

As a noble, she also has the ability and permission to turn a human into a vampire. Krul exercises this right on Mahiru, and then Mika. Her rank allows her to sit on the progenitor council.

Despite being a vampire Krul is not shown to own a First-class vampire weapon, or any weapon for that matter. However her raw strength is tremendous enough, and she possesses supernatural speed. Krul is also shown to withstand days of torture in the sun without the UV-protective armbands. In fact, Krul herself stated that her body had already begun to adapt to the never ending burning she was experiencing and she was slowly becoming comfortable with the sensation of being constantly incinerated, further showing her body's extreme durability.

    • Both were Queen of Vampires.
    • Both have the same surnames of "Tepes."
    • Both have the appearance of a small petite girl with pigtails.
    • Both favor a teenage boy.
  • In the popularity poll, Krul earned 6th place at 1,275 points.[104] In the 2019 popularity poll, Krul ranked 8th place with 1,708 votes.[105]
  • So far, she is the only female vampire who is in the Progenitor Council.
  • Krul and Mika were the first and only two characters to ever kiss in the entirety of the franchise, until Mahiru and Guren had theirs in Catastrophe book 3.
